New VTTI terminal in Pakistan receives first ship delivery
HTL, the latest addition to VTTI’s global network of independent oil storage and distribution terminals, became operational on 8 March, when it welcomed its first delivery of product by ship. The first shipment to Pakistan’s newest energy asset, which offers 232,000 m³ of storage across 22 tanks, consisted of 48 kt of gasoline and 3 kt of gasoil. The second delivery of fuel to the terminal is expected on 20 March. The Port Qasim facility can store a range of refined oil products. Strategically located near Karachi, it is connected to Pakistan’s White Oil Pipeline (WOP) and has 21 truck bays both for loading and decanting. The terminal has access to a jetty which can handle oil tankers up to 65,000 dwt. VTTI’s global expertise and knowledge of the industry as well as its international network, combined with the support of its local partners, Hascol and Fossil, will ensure HTL is one of the key independent regional terminals required to supply the growing domestic market. VTTI’s involvement in the terminal dates to July 2017, when it acquired a 51% ownership in the then greenfield project
