Engineering Manager (projects) F/M/X for worldwide projects

Position

VTTI headquarters, Rotterdam and projects around the world

In this role there will be a lot of travel involved as you will support projects around the world with Rotterdam as your base. For your first assignment you will be going to Croatia for our Tankfarm 23 expansion. FEED will be approx. 8 months while detailed engineering and construction will be another 6 to 8 months. Location rotation will most likely be 3 months on, 2 weeks off.

As an engineering manager you report to the designated project manager, and you are responsible for the management of the engineering activities at the project you are deployed to.

What are your responsibilities?

  • Management of Multi Discipline Engineering Team (process, civil, mechanical (static, rotating), piping, electrical, instrumentation, automation and control) responsible for the development of capital projects up to €150mln, from Preliminary Design to Detail Engineering, Procurement and Construction.
  • Supervise, guide the Engineering Team with Design Engineering responsibilities to ensure that the Project achieves its objectives and complies with all relevant Codes and Standards.
  • Formulate and ensure the Quality Control Standard for the efficient functioning of the Design Engineering Team.
  • Supervise the Engineering Execution Methods and Procedure, Engineering Disciplines Co-ordination, Engineering Deliverables delivery for Project Execution.
  • Management and Supervision of the Engineering Design and Inter Discipline activities, carried out by the Engineering Contractor, EPC Contractor, Vendors, for the Execution of the Project.
  • Supervision of Design integrity and quality within Engineering Contractor’s, EPC Contractor’s Engineering Team.
  • Ensure that VTTI’s Project Engineering Policies and Overall Detailed Design criteria are followed.
  • Review Engineering deliverables for procurement and construction to ensure that all works are carried out in compliance with standards, and project specifications.
  • Participate in discipline and inter-discipline design check and screening meetings, for compatibility, completeness, correctness in works, as needed.
  • Liaising with the Engineering Contractor’s, EPC Contractor’s representative on resolving complex Engineering technical issues and resolving specific technical questions that arise during the development of the Engineering Design.
  • Interface Management with Lead Engineers, Contractors, Vendors, Government Agencies and Certification agencies.
  • Actively participate in Tech HSE Studies such as HAZOP, SIL, HAZID, which are carried out at various stages of Detail Engineering of the Project.
  • Attend, facilitate the Weekly Engineering meeting with Engineering Contractor’s, EPC Contractor’s Representative and Construction Team for timely resolution of all the Technical Clarification, Comments, Scope Change, Hold Points, Design changes, Field Changes, Site Technical Queries, timely development of the engineering documentation.
  • Management and supervision of In-house Engineering Activities and Project Engineering Schedule.
  • Conduct Engineering Audits to ensure the Quality of Documents and to ensure the compliance to codes, standards, and project specifications
  • Ensure implementation of no change policy through robust management of change process

What we’re looking for

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering.
  • Minimum 7 years of multidisciplinary design and engineering experience in medium to major oil and gas, industrial, energy projects.
  • Flexible in relocating to project location across our business units network. Initial assignment is set at our Terminal in Croatia.
  • Ability to interact on high level in commercial conversation between VTTI and its Clients and with other project management disciplines, such as scheduling, cost estimating, permitting.
  • Meet deadlines by quickly adapting to changing needs and requirements. Capable of handling stressful situations.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration and analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English.
