Zarate, Argentina – VTTI, a leader in energy infrastructure operation and development, inaugurated two new storage tanks to meet the growing demand for Clean Petroleum Products (CPP) in South America. These new tanks, with a combined capacity of 22,600 m3, will increase the terminal’s total storage capacity by 10%.
Hugo Geurdes, General Manager of VTTI Argentina said: ‘’We are happy to announce that the project was executed safely and that both tanks were successfully commissioned, which means we are fully ready for serving our customers and meeting the growing demand for CPP in the Southern cone of South America. This expansion also aligns with VTTI’s 2028 Strategy, to invest in existing terminal infrastructure in key markets.’’
VTTI Argentina continues its commitment to safety, efficiency, and environmental responsibility while meeting evolving customer needs. The new tanks integrate seamlessly into VTTI Argentina’s existing infrastructure, offering customers even more flexibility with additional connectivity to maritime and truck-loading facilities.
VTTI Argentina will continue to explore opportunities to further diversify its business and enhance existing physical and digital infrastructure.
The formal inauguration of the new tanks, known as ‘Phase V’ took place on June 27, 2024 in the presence of the ambassador of the Netherlands to Argentina, clients and stakeholders.
The terminal began operations in 1978 and was one of the first assets to be brought into the VTTI portfolio. Strategically located in the Port of Zarate, the terminal enables convenient and efficient distribution of energy, chemical and fertilizer products by barge, vessel or truck. Strong demand has led to various ambitious expansions, with the latest addition of the two new tanks, taking the total capacity of the terminal to 252,000 m3.
